Lesserpoland fire service Museum was founded on May 4, 1953 on the initiative of kpt. Konrad Zbigniew Gęsikowski. For nearly half a century leads them volunteer fire department in Alwerni. The Museum is expanded and maintained social work members of the guard. The phenomenon is due to the fact that there is a group of enthusiasts who gather collections, preserve unique technical monuments, try to provide the appropriate conditions of storage. The most valuable part of the harvest is estimated at a European scale collection of old firefighting vehicles. Deserves special attention and maintenance of these unique sites run their own forces and socially by firefighters from Alwernia. Their effort has been appreciated in 1999 awarded the annual prize of the Minister of culture and national heritage "Sibyl" in the field of preservation of unique fire car Mercedes from 1926. This is probably the most valuable and best preserved monument of this type in Poland.
The Museum is the oldest Museum of this kind in Poland with a unique collection consists of: fire horse carts and car fire, a collection of medals, medals, commemorative badges and photographs, as well as thematically related to the activities of the Fire Department, and filuministic collections and philatelic and numerous documents and publications. Here already more than 1,800 exhibits. The Museum is the cultural heritage of history and tradition, presenting achievements fire guard in Poland. In 2002, the City Council in Alwerni has set up a Lesser fire service Museum as a municipal institution of culture and gave him the statutes. From 23 V 2004. after the approval of the Statute of the Fire Museum by the general meeting of the TSO in Alwerni and agreement with the Ministry of culture of the basic body is OSP Alwernia.
